I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely love cooking little BLW recipes for Baby Z. I feel like I am much more experimental with his food and I get so excited for him to try out new ingredients. This is down to the inspirational BLW (Baby Led Weaning) recipes online that I spend hours scrolling through and saving on my phone. It’s beginning to turn into a hobby!
This Tuna Cakes recipe is from My Lovely Little Lunch Box and it is truly a lovely little website indeed! I turn to it quite often for mini fritter recipes which Baby Z adores. I don’t always stick to the exact list of ingredients depending on what’s in my fridge, and I changed a few ingredients around on this ocassion too. You can find a full list of ingredients at the end of this post.
So let’s get started! First off, ensure your baby is safe and being entertained. This may mean putting a lot of toys and himself in his baby cot so as to not have him running around the house in his walker, grabbing and throwing things on the floor.
Next, start to put all your ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Whisk 2 large eggs into a bowl and add to that your mustard, mayonnaise and lemon juice.
Now add your shredded tuna, breadcrumbs, grated cucumber, chopped mint and coriander.
Mix it all up with a spoon thoroughly until all the ingredients are combined and you get a colourful shiny bowl that looks a bit like this:
Now its time to fry these little cakes. Shape the tuna cakes in whatever way you like (I tend to make them thin and long so Baby Z can grab on to it well) and fry each side for about 2-3 minutes in a frying pan using Olive Oil.
Voila! There you have it! Juicy scrumptious Tuna Cakes that your baby can gobble up!
